Pinterest Dreams & Sage Green Scenes

Q1. Tell us a little bit about yourselves, where you’re from? How you met? When you got engaged?
We both grew up in villages in south glos and have known each other since secondary school! We were friends at school and but didn’t begin dating until our last month of school and the summer before we both went to uni. Our friendship made a great foundation for us and we slotted into each others lives perfectly! We got engaged after 8 years together on a weekend away for my birthday, it was really private and so nice to keep it between the two of us.
Q2. You booked your wedding two years in advance, how important was it to find and secure the perfect venue?
About 6 months before we got engaged I had seen some photos of the gillyflower popped up on my Instagram and I saved it just in case! I couldn’t believe how stunning it was, after we got engaged we started to think about venues local to us. This was really important as we didn’t want to travel too far, and another photo of the gillyflower came up! I couldn’t believe my luck that the image I’d initially saved was local to us and I knew we had to view it! We had an idea to aim for a year and a half and obviously it comes down to availability too, we ended up settling on two years and while the first year flew by, it feels like a blinked on the second. It gave us the chance to have a great pick of the vendors without any pressure and really allowed us to spread everything out which I think helped relieve any stress both physically and financially.
Q3. Why was Elmore your dream venue? What attracted you? What did Elmore have that other places didn’t?
We love older buildings and had mentioned a few times how nice a Manor House would be. People told me searching for a venue would be a bit like searching for a house, we just knew when we walked in that it was perfect for us and exactly what we were looking for so it didn’t take long or much convincing at all. We absolutely loved the design, layout and ways in which new met old. Basically Elmore court is our dream home! It has an amazing feel, even on a gloomy day and we already want to be invited to a wedding there as a guest!!
Q4. How did you approach wedding planning? Did you enjoy it? How did you both find the process?
I’m quite an organised person and after going to a few weddings and speaking to people I knew what things I wanted to prioritise. I really enjoyed the process, I lived on pinterest and it was the best way for me to convey what I wanted to our vendors! There weren’t any points where I felt particularly stressed, having good vendors makes the process so much easier, everyone was honestly incredible.
Q5. Your dress was absolutely gorgeous, how did you find the perfect dress?
I was really open to trying anything, I knew I wanted a square neckline as I find that flattering but I still tried on a variety of necklines and styles! The team at timeless elegance were so amazing at picking things out and thinking outside the box as there were times I don’t think I even knew what I wanted. The dress I chose just made me feel like a bride, nothing else compared. It was really difficult because the only size available was 4 sizes too big for me, but the team did an amazing job of pinning it so I could visualise it! And wow what an amazing job they did, every visit was so much fun and I couldn’t recommend them enough.
Q6. And your bridesmaids in that gorgeous sage green, did you have a colour palette in mind when planning the wedding?
I always thought it would be green with all white flowers, I was really open to the shade of green but as soon as the girls tried them on I knew the sage green would be perfect for a spring day! The closer we got to the date I did do a bit of U turn with my flowers but I couldn’t be happier with what Emma created
Q7. You are a fashion influencer, did you feel any pressure planning your wedding?
Yes and no, I think people had an idea of what it might be like and I hope that it surprised people in some ways! There is definitely an expectation on what i I might look like and the photos and content it creates. What was important is that it felt like us and that we were present in the moment, everything else just happened to be amazing and we had the best day!
Q8. Your wedding photographs are just gorgeous, so much love, but captured in such a happy joyful style, how did you choose your photographer?
I really wanted our photos to be relaxed, timeless and candid. It took a look of research but after speaking with Kelly I knew I trusted her straight away. She captured the day beautifully and is so talented!
Q9. How did you choose your wedding flowers, we love how they tied the wedding party together with whites, peach and a touch of sage green?
I initially planned to go for white flowers with foliage, which turned into all white. I think I was probably a bit influenced myself by these beautiful all white weddings, but the closer it got to the wedding it just clicked and I totally changed my mind on it being all white. I still didn’t really know what I wanted apart from some creams, blushes/peaches and pops of yellow. I just knew it would look stunning with the dresses, it also felt more like me. Emma exceeded my expectations massively I was so happy with the end result
Q11. Do you have a stand out memory from the day?
It’s so hard to choose one… I get extremely anxious and I had said to my bridesmaids the evening before I wanted to sing a song to hype us up before we walked down the aisle. We sang/shouted unwritten and it was so much fun, relaxed us all and is such a core memory for me. I loved all our speeches, we didn’t stick to traditional styles as my bridesmaids and james’ dad also were part of this. We spread them all out as we were worried it might get a bit boring but you wouldn’t have noticed we had extra, plus everyone did amazing and really involved all our guests! The next morning we both woke up really early, it was completely silent in the house, while everyone was sleeping off their hangovers we snuck to the kitchen to make a cup of tea and opened our cards in bed together. We took a bath in the incredible smoking room and went for a walk before around the grounds before we made our way to breakfast. It was such a nice way to spend our first morning together debriefing the whole day.
